To begin with, I was able to go to Anime North 2012 recently. Though I wasn't able to get a table, it was refreshing to just be able to be there as a con-goer check out some panels, derp around, check out artists at the Comic Market, and ogle around at the Dealer's Room.
Ah! I went on a spree and my wallet cried a lot but I am absolutely happy with my purchases and the fact that I got to see new faces selling merch at the Artist Alley. Hurrr!!! It was really inspiring seeing work from different people. Deep inside I giggled and oggled and anxiety overcame me like a frazzled school girl. I have to admit that deep inside I'm a closet cute-phile (or something like that D8)
Some noteworthy mentions of people whose work I really admired and loved during that 3-day period and truly recommend are:
Rosey Cheekes: www[dot]roseycheekes[dot]com She does the cutest food, narwhal, mushroom illustrations I have ever seen! She's also a fellow mushroom lover, aaaah!
Chu Zhang (Morico): www[dot]chuillustration[dot]com Does illustration and crafts. I got an adorable Cloud+thunder felt pin from their stall. They also had adorable pillows with prints of alpacas and rabbits on them.
Curry Carrots: www[dot]currycarrots[dot]tumblr[dot]com I got awesome totoro and katamari bookmarks! They were printed on watercolour paper and gave out a really nice texture! I cannot express how much I adore them! I find her work to be quite adorable and nicely laid out. Colourful, cute, and simple.
1% talent: www[dot]1percenttalent[dot]com I have made it a custom of mine to buy a t-shirt from this guy every time I attend AN. This year, I got an adorable green alien printed on a nice soft grey with a smidgen hint of blue cotton shirt. They are truly unique designs and I'm really glad that this year he's offered a lot more designs on shirts of different colours!
Love Love Hill: www[dot]evilsmile[dot]net Love Love Hill does comic anthologies! Ah! I remember seeing these lovely ladies for the first time at TCAF! They were at AN again and of course I had to stop by and purchase their Knight Life comic anthology about well, Knights!
I'll try to update this list later when I get to sort out through the business cards I got and pimp them out some more for they are such sweet succulent little dumplings whose stuff I can't get enough out off!
